Overview: In the TV adaptation of Donald Churchill’s play, Jane’s affair comes to light when her lover’s furious wife Marcia threatens to expose her, so Jane persuades their building painter Walter to impersonate her husband and defuse the scandal. Unbeknownst to her, Walter’s a passionate amateur actor who seizes the chance to play Othello, unleashing a madcap parade of misunderstandings as both women lavish affection on their faux spouse to prove who’s superior.
